  • What insurances do you accept?
United Healthcare Aetna Oxford Cigna Oscar Health Blue Cross Blue Shield Peach State Care Source Amerigroup ChampVA Tricare
  • What if I have another insurance that you do not accept?
If you have private insurance that I am not in-network with I can provide you with a monthly receipt called a "Superbill" and you can submit this to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance provider directly and checking with them to confirm if you have "Out Of Network" benefits. Otherwise, you can choose to see me privately and not involve your insurance at all.
  • What is your self pay rate?
$160/hour for individual counseling. $1000/day for 8 hour intensives.
  • Where is your office located?
My office is located at the Senior Citizen's center on Bull and Washington St. in Savannah, GA.
  • Do you offer online counseling?
Yes, however, in my experience, those who engage in in-person therapy tend to get more out of it. If you prefer virtual therapy, I require that you are in a private environment and not driving. In-person therapy allows for a better connection between the client and the therapist and limits the number of distractions that you may have when holding a virtual session. In-person therapy also shows your level of commitment to healing and to yourself.
  • Do you do couples therapy?
Generally, no. If you are looking for a couples therapist, I suggest finding someone who specializes as such and primarily does mostly couples work in their practice; they will generally be the best and most practiced in that area, which is generally best served by specific and dedicated expertise.
  • How long are sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are typically between 50 - 55 minutes. Intensives are typically 8 hour sessions over a 2-5 day period.
  • How do I set up an initial appointment?
The best way to reach me is by email at kayla@prismcounseling.health or send an online inquiry via the form at the bottom of this page.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Because I reserve time slots for you as a client, I require 24 hours notice for a cancelled appointment, otherwise you will be charged, as someone else could have used that appointment slot. Of course, emergencies happen and exceptions are possible.
  • How much paperwork do I have to fill out?
There will be a few forms that you will need to fill out before we can schedule our first session. These forms include a Notice of Privacy Practices, Informed Consent for Psychotherapy, Telehealth Treatment Consent, Credit/Debit Card Authorization, Standard Intake Questionnaire, and Insurance Information.
  • What can I expect in a first session?
In the first session, my main goal is to understand why you are seeking therapy and how I can best help you. It's also important that we get to know each other and make sure it feels like a good fit for both of us, as the quality of the relationship has been shown in research as the single most important factor in successful therapy.
  • How often will we need to have a session?
I suggest a regular weekly session in the beginning until problems and issues are resolved. Of course, this is your therapy and if weekly sessions do not fit for you, we will look at what does fit and what you are comfortable with. Eventually, we will drop to bi-weekly, monthly, and then as needed.
  • Can I bring my children?
Yes, babies and toddlers are always welcome in my office. Older children who do not need supervision may wait in the waiting room.
  • Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately the Senior Citizen center only allows certified service animals in the building. Please bring pictures!!
